Overview

Vision 2030 set an ambitious goal: grow the non-profit sector’s contribution to the Saudi economy. Athar is the digital backbone of that push — registering entities, tracking requests and publishing sector reports.

I designed the admin workspace and the public entity journey, in both Arabic-first layouts and English, for reviewers handling thousands of establishment requests.

The challenge

Government reviewers juggle parallel queues with strict SLAs, while applicants range from family funds to national centers. One platform had to serve both sides without drowning either in bureaucracy.

Right-to-left Arabic layouts, Hijri dates and formal approval chains all had to feel native — not translated.

Process

  1. 1
    Research

Workshops with ministry reviewers and NGO founders; mapped the full establishment lifecycle on one wall.

  2. 2
    Bilingual UX

Arabic-first components with mirrored layouts, tested with native reviewers before a single English screen.

  3. 3
    Queue design

SLA-aware request tables with remaining-time indicators and one-click reviewer handoff.

  4. 4
    Design system

A formal, accessible component set the foundation’s internal team extends to this day.
